We had a fantastic time staying at Croft 42. The house is so comfortable and quiet, with beautiful views outside. It’s been refurbished to a really high standard - Shona was so welcoming and we really appreciated the little touches like the welcome pack. Shona’s mother who lives opposite was also so friendly and welcoming - as was the lovely ram in the field next door! It was the perfect landing spot to explore the island from - especially all the beautiful beaches.

We especially recommend going north to the Bridge to Nowhere & experiencing the sea caves on the beach below at low tide. We also recommend the back road to the Callanish Stones (A858) - if you don’t mind single track roads, it’s so scenic!

A lovely warm welcome to Croft@42. The house is beautiful and all the finishing touches from the peat, pictures, chess pieces from Uig + hamper box were second to none. 😀

We have loved exploring the islands. The coastline with such amazing beaches has been a highlight! Garry Beach a firm favourite & we were lucky enough to spot a Minky Whale swimming across one bay.

Such a beautiful place, breathtaking mountainous views on Isle of Harris, with loch after loch!

Enjoyed eating out at The Boathouse and HS1 at the Royal Hotel Stornoway.

The set-up is family-friendly, beautifully appointed and the views are stunning (even in changeable weather!) We loved being able to walk down the road to visit with Granny/Chrissie and Co. and get to all the attractions of the island easily by car. We ❤️ the Isle of Lewis so much and can’t wait to return.

Hi Shona, Croft@42 had everything we could want and more. It was a woah feeling when we walked in. Super clean and very nicely decorated with attention to detail. It was our first time renting a cottage and it was a welcome change from the hotels and B&B on our roundtrip.

We have had wonderful time on Lewis & Harris, the beaches are renowned & didn't disappoint. The house is so relaxing & so tastefully decorated, the little ornaments here & there are the sweetest reminders of where you are. The artwork on the wooden pieces were greatly advised. Our stay at your beautiful house was a shot to the soul! I grew up in Back and could not have thought of a better place to stay in my home village. We have had a difficult year so really needed a relaxing holiday—which we definitely got. The icing on the cake—we got engaged here!!! We are so happy! 😀

She said ‘yes’ I’m a happy man. 42 made a great base to visit family from, and retreat to for a lovely fire and a wee dram.

What a beautiful property! Tastefully decorated, quality fixtures, fittings and furniture. Plenty space for a family of 5. Everything has been carefully considered in terms of facilities (to meet our needs and more). The garden space is great and the views just lovely. Enjoyed exploring Lewis & Harris with this property location being handy for that. We also enjoyed local strolls, taking in the island life & air. Barra is our “go to” islan, but decided on here and what a great choice, it’s just as beautiful as Barra! Our 2 older children are fluent Gaelic speakers, we enjoyed listening to them interpret the Gaelic out here! Thank you to Shona, who is a lovely, hospitable host and clearly loves her property! :-)
