A few minutes’ walk from Croft@42 in one direction takes you to the sands of Gress and Back beaches (the background image of this page). Go in the other direction and follow a peat road for miles into the vast North Lewis moor.
Fancy going further afield? Check our welcome pack for more ideas, but the Callanish Stones, Gearannan Blackhouse Village and the broch at Dun Carloway should be on anyone's bucket-list.
Or you could take time to visit the Isle of Harris, technically the same landmass as Lewis, but with a completely different landscape. Want to really push the boat out? Then all-day boat trips from Uig or Leverburgh let you visit lonely St Kilda and give you a chance to get up-close-and-personal with orcas and dolphins.
